Colorado car accident after fireworks show, one man dead
One of the most frequent causes of severe injuries and death are car accidents. Generally, an accident is even more dangerous when a pedestrian is hit by a vehicle operated by a drunk driver. A fatal pedestrian car accident has taken place leaving one man dead and four others injured.
Colorado authorities indicate that the car accident took place after a fireworks show at around 10:30 pm. A 33-year-old man was driving under the influence when he crashed into a group of family members attempting to go across the highway. The man was previously charged with a DUI back in 2002. One of the pedestrians hit by the man’s vehicle happened to be the father who was declared dead at the scene.
Five other were injured in this crash. A 49-year old woman sustained severe injuries and was airlifted to a Denver hospital. A 19-year-old and a 3-year-old also sustained severe enough injuries to be airlifted to the hospital. There were others that were involved in this incident that were not injured. The drunk driver has been charged in this matter and is being held on a $40,000 bond.
Any type of car accident can be devastating for victims who suffer personal injury. Understandably, it is even more tragic when someone loses their life as a result. The surviving family of the father in this case retains the right to file a wrongful death claim. Under Colorado law, victims and families of deceased victims can seek recovery of financial damages such as funeral costs, medical costs and pain and suffering caused by the fatal occurrence.
