Colorado car accident injures bus passengers
Passengers who recently were on board a bus were in for an unexpected ride. An auto accident occurred between a Colorado bus and a tractor on the highway. The incident resulted in injuries to the passengers. Now, insurance companies are negotiating the possibly of reaching a settlement.The accident reportedly happened while the bus was traveling along the highway with 11 passengers on board. The bus driver came upon a slow-moving tractor and quickly swerved into another lane. Eventually, the bus struck a barrier and flipped over. The passengers on the bus suffered moderate to major injuries. Upon a preliminary investigation, authorities issued a ticket to the tractor’s driver for not displaying a slow-moving sign on his vehicle.Under the immunity act, the maximum amount allowed to be paid out is $990,000 for this incident in its entirety. Nine passengers have issued notices of possible injury lawsuits. The insurance companies for both the tractor’s owner and the transportation authority bus are negotiating terms to cover medical expenses and other burdens the passengers are facing in an attempt to resolve this matter.
No one expects to be in an accident while riding on a bus, especially one that causes serious injuries. The insurance companies may be able to settle with the injured passengers in this case instead of engaging in a lengthy civil trial. Individuals who are injured in a bus accident or any other type of car accident may have the right to file personal injury claims against the negligent party. The civil court system in Colorado may issue financial compensation to the injured victims if evidence deems the other party responsible for the accident.
