Colorado newlywed killed in honeymoon truck accident
When a Colorado couple got married last month, they promised to love one another for the rest of their lives. Little did they know that, following a tragic truck accident during their honeymoon, their married life together would be cut tragically short. The 31-year-old Denver man and his 28-year-old wife were in New Zealand celebrating their recent nuptials when the fatal truck accident took place. According to police reports, the husband was driving a rented car near a popular tourist attraction when their vehicle was broadsided by a cement truck. The husband was declared dead at the scene of the crash, and his wife was flown to a nearby hospital and placed in a medically-induced coma. She was declared to be in critical condition immediately following the accident, and her current state is unknown. Both her family and that of her new husband flew to New Zealand in order to be with her as she fights to recover from the injuries she suffered in the crash.New Zealand police are not sure what caused the fatal crash. The accident took place near a popular tourist attraction, where the newlyweds are believed to have spent the night. Investigators have speculated that the husband may have been unfamiliar with the rules of the road in New Zealand, where cars drive on the other side of the road than they do in the United States. As such, he may have accidentally pulled out in front of the cement truck.
Regardless of the cause of the crash, it is a tragic accident made even more so by the fact that it occurred so early in the couple’s separate and married lives.
